Kingdom of Loathing

December 22nd, 2007

I’ve played my share of web games.  I get bored at work, and don’t always have a good enough comp to play extensive games. So I go to fun web games to take up the time.  Normally they catch my attention for a while, but then they just get boring.  I started playing Kingdom of Loathing. It’s a web RPG that goes beyond normal web RPG’s.  Think of how a game would be if you had a bunch of super geeks who drink all the time and can’t draw.  Thats KoL.  Everything is stick drawn, and everything is witty, and references to a ton of stuff intertwined.  You can find refernces from movies, to history, to books, to poetry.   I commonly use the KoL Wiki to search for howto’s and info about items and quests.  Pretty indepth stuff for a simple web game.  I highly recommend it to anyone who has a desk job or dosen’t like to / can’t play the mainstream games.

History Lesson…

December 22nd, 2007

t’s been a while since my last real post, and for good reason. This semester was a bitch, and the end of it was evidence of this. I worked my ass of all semester to get good grades, and well at least I passed all my classes. Although, I’m happy to report I aced my programming class, 99.87 to be exact. I got a 103 on the final hehe. Now if only i could have done that on my calc final. However, I did pass calc, which is more than I could say for the fall. In retrospect, I should have just talked to Dr. Neath and I probably could have gotten the C. I wish I had talked to my cousin earlier than a week or two after the semester was over. I took engineering economics over again this semester, I failed it miserably in the spring. This semester I was doing good, but I suck at tests, I can teach people how to do this shit, but when it comes to the test, I suck it up. Mostly because they were multiple choice. I’m much better at computational stuff. The “one” computational quiz we got, I aced. I digress, I got a C I passed, I suppose I should be happy. What I am happy for though is I got a B in the seconds semester of physics. That was a hard course, but for some reason I got it, I understood it. I probably would have gotten a A had I not fubard the last test. I’m an idiot and suck at tests. I always go to fast and didn’t have time to review the test. I should just be happy with my B, but damn it I want A’s.

n other news, Leslie and I broke up. Not cause we hate each other or anything bad. We just decided we were poor matches. Just different outlooks on the world and values. You know, we are actually happier and have more fun being just friends. Which is great. I wish my relationship with Jessica had gone this way, but I’m sure I had a bit to contribute to how it went down. However, she’s over reacted several times and so it takes both parties for friendship to work out.

Leslie and I already swapped Xmas presents. We’re not going to see each other on Xmas, so it just made sense. Leslie collects the vintage collection games that sell at Target. I was there one day and saw they came out with some new ones. I picked her up Risk, only because I love the game, and it was a game of luck/strategy, so I thought she might like it. She did, at first (when she was winning) however, the next round I was dominating her. And she wasn’t having fun. I did it again the third round and that was it. So she took it home and played with her parents, and she wants a rematch cause she thinks she understands how its played now. I’ll be ready. She got me a fun Mario shirt, and a sushi making kit. Haven’t made any sushi yet, but I can’t wait! =)

h, BTW, mother nature is a bitch! Had a huge party planned out for my birthday last Saturday. Had a ton of people planning on showing up, even people from back home. What does it do? Snow’s like a mother fucker all day. I got about 10 – 12 people to show up, which was enough for me to have a good time. It just pissed me off to no end.

Well I think that’s enough of an update. I’ll try to get more thoughts up here.

Big Bang…

December 22nd, 2007

Everyone know’s I’m a big geek.  I started watching a show that i can relate to.  Its called “The Big Bang Theory.”  It’s about these 4 genious nerds who have this gourges beauty move next door.  She’s not a genious like they are so the jokes they make go right over her head.  These guys are super nerds, they work for the physics departments of a local university and meet many of the stereo types of geeky people.  They play WOW, Halo, watch sci-fi, chat on the net, have blogs, etc.  So when they get thrown into every day situations, they are clueless on how to act.  So halarious.  If you know physics and calculus, the jokes some of the jokes will make perfecdt scense.  However if your not familar with high end sciences, well the jokes are still funny, you just may not understand some of them.  Anyways, i Highly recommend watching it.  It plays on CBS, and the next episode will air early next year.  Here’s a little teaser.

Yay religion bashing..

Weird….

November 28th, 2007

So last night I had this really weird dream.  I guess it’s not _that_ weird, but usually these kinda dreams are the result of copious amounts of alcohol the night before, and I didn’t drink at all last night.  Anyways, So Admiral Kirk, Captain Spock and I go to this military camp type thing in my grandparents winnebago.  This was kind of a spar of the moment type of thing cause I didn’t have time to pack, but its ok cause I stayed there not long ago and still had cloths.. *shrug*.  Spock apparently enjoys the pool.  Not to swim, but to do research.  At one point or another he has a confrontation with this almost rubbery looking floating woman.  She was shiny like a hentai girl but didn’t look cell shaded, more like crazy CG gloss.  After this it gets a little fuzzy, but I do remember Kirk and I doing something outside the motor home, almost like.. cleaning up or cooking.. Can’t remember.  Then Spock returns, and we start heading to this meeting, It was pretty late in the day for some military thing.  I thought they all liked super early in the morning type of stuff.  Weird, I haven’t watched any Star Trek in some time, not sure why they popped into my dream all the sudden.  Ah well, another night another fucked up dream.  I really do wish i could record these bastards, I’d make a fortune.

Screw you WD!

November 27th, 2007

Bought a SATA 320 Western Digital Hard drive about 2 months ago, maybe less.  Fucker won’t spin up anymore.  This is why i don’t buy their crappy drives.  I’m a Seagate man, but this drive was cheap and avalible and I needed one then.  Now I do have a raptor, and that’s still going.  Not sure why they can’t make all their drives last as well as their raptors.  I suppose that’s why their expensive and the others are not. GRR  The RMA Process is on its way now, I hate not having my linux box.. I feel naked.

Ha ha, stupid smoker..

November 19th, 2007

So I stumbled across this in my boredom browsing. Pretty disgusting. If a smoker watches this video and still wants to pick up another smoke, I pity you cause your a complete and utter moron and should die for being such.

CRAYON PHYSICS!!!

November 19th, 2007

http://www.kloonigames.com/blog/games/crayon/

Fun little game that lets you draw with crayons to do stuff. The delux version coming out soon looks even better. I played with the standard one, super short but fun. I was using my tablet, made it really interesting.

Here’s a video of the new one.

Futurama, Genius!

I’ve always been a fan of Futurama, this just proves how engenius the writiers were. Mathamatical reasoning of stuff that appears in the show.

This time it wasn’t a negative…

November 14th, 2007

This week is a week of laziness and returned tests. Spent quite a bit of time playing RF Online, its a pretty nice game. The quest system has it’s good and bad parts. The fighting system is pretty standard. What is nice is the macro system, which I really haven’t done much with cept setup auto potions, so I don’t have to remember to drink’m.
But I digress. I got my programming test back, got an A like i suspected. I should have gotten a higher A, but an A’s an A right? However, got my calc test back, got a 73 as i suspected I would get, however he curved so i got a B insted. I know I shouldn’t complain, but I’m going to. This jackass really erks me off. I lost 4 points because I didn’t put information down that the problem didn’t state to put on there, WTF? I also lost a bunch of points because I had the correct information down, but apparently i didn’t put the correct correct information down.. What a fuck, most teachers if you have the correct answers down but you have one extra and don’t specify, they might take 1 point of, now this ass whole takes almost 1/2 the points off. Now my grade wasn’t all his fault. I punched some stuff into my calc and wrote it down w/o thinking, even though i did think about it, but at the time my thought was that it was correct. Which it was not, and when i got it back i was like, WTF you stupid fuck what the fuck is your problem, are you stupid or something? Uggh so pissed at him and myself. I’ll be glad when this semester is over and I can look to brighter and better classes.

So I’m sitting here, not able to sleep, thinking about how could that test have gone better. You know, as many if not everyone knows, standard tests are balls when it comes to testing your knowledge on a subject. I’m living proof of that. I can teach people about said subject, but I will fail a test hands down. I have narrowed down my failure to one simple thing. I cannot catch mistakes while taking the test. However after the test, they poke out like sore thumbs. Yeah, so their’s ink marking said mistake, but I generally look at it and i’m like, OMG WTF, your so dumb how could you do that. Many times its as simple as not copying something down right from part A to part B, or I completely fubar it, and i look at it and am amazing how i couldn’t have caught that. So why don’t more teachers allow students to go over their tests after the test, correct mistakes and let the teacher check it again. Maybe not even mark it, maybe a day later give the test again for a fraction of the time, just enough to check it over for mistakes again with a fresh look. I mean, how many times have you heard people say, walk away and come back later and you’ll see your problem. Same with everything, why can’t you do that with a test? Some people, like me, just can’t see their errors right away. Grawww! Just upsets me.
